UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of a "real risk" of the Ukrainian conflict escalating beyond the country's borders after Russian drones were shot down over Polish territory, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
This episode "reaffirms the regional impact and the real risk of this devastating conflict expanding", said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.
Meanwhile, British Defense Minister John Healy held pre-arranged talks with his colleagues from the so-called E5 format, which also included representatives of the defense ministries of Italy, France and Germany. Their Polish counterpart was forced to return to Warsaw early.
Healey said he had asked the British armed forces to "consider the possibilities of strengthening NATO air defences in Poland".
"Together, we at E5 condemn these attacks in the strongest terms. Russia's actions are reckless, dangerous and unprecedented. We see what Putin is doing. He is testing us again. And we will stand firm again," Healey added at a press conference.
