The movement of all vehicles on the "Danube Bridge" near Ruse will be suspended from 8:00 p.m. on June 12 to 4:00 a.m. on June 13.
The reason is emergency repair of a joint in the unrepaired section of the facility, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) announced.
The implementation of the urgent activities will ensure travel safety until the start of construction work in this section of the bridge facility.
The beginning of the major repairs was set on July 10 last year. Construction and installation works are carried out daily without stopping traffic, and the activities are organized and carried out so that vehicles can pass in both directions in the lane where the work is not being carried out.
The two lanes in a 413-meter section have been mainly repaired so far. The next 320 meters of the lane in the direction of Bulgaria are currently being rehabilitated. During the construction works, the passage along the facility will be in both directions in the lane towards Romania.
The route on the Bulgarian territory of the Danube Bridge has a total length of 1,057 kilometers. Since its commissioning 70 years ago - in 1954, no major repairs have been carried out.
