A 59-year-old woman inadvertently caused a fire in the village of Chestimensko, Tervel municipality. This was reported by the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dobrich.
The signal for the incident was received yesterday, shortly after 17:30. Dry grass caught fire on the edge of the village, and there was a real danger of the fire spreading to nearby houses and gardens.
The fire was extinguished by teams of the Regional Service (RS) "Fire Safety and Population Protection" (PBZN) - Tervel. Operational and search measures were carried out, and it was established that a 59-year-old woman from the village had thrown away a trash can containing an unextinguished cigarette.
An administrative action has been taken by the Tervel Regional Fire and Rescue Service. The case is being investigated.
A total of 135 fires have been extinguished in the country over the past 24 hours, the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection reported on its website. Firefighters responded to 186 reports of accidents.
