The German company Mercedes-Benz has outlined its vision for the next few years. Specifically, the company intends to launch more than 40 new models by 2027. The appearance of the new all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ technology marks more than just the launch of a new model. It also signals the start of what Mercedes-Benz calls the biggest product offensive in its history.

Over the next three years, the company plans to launch more than 40 new models, while at the same time working to significantly reduce production costs. At the same time, the company intends to shift its focus from the luxury segment to more mass and affordable cars, which will strengthen its financial position.

Investments and new models

To prepare for the launch of a number of new models, Mercedes-Benz is investing over 2 billion euros in its European assembly plants. After completing the launch of the new electric CLA at the plant in Rastatt, Germany, the brand will begin production of the GLC EQ in Bremen and the all-electric C-Class EQ in Kecskemét. The automaker's Sindelfingen plant will begin production of new electric Mercedes-AMG models, including the production version of the recently unveiled Concept AMG GT XX.

Among the lesser-known new products is the VLE, an all-electric luxury minivan developed on the new Van Electric Architecture platform. Designed to carry up to eight passengers, it underscores the company's desire to cover the widest possible market segment. The range is also rounded out by an electric “small” SUV G-Class, updated S-Class, versions of the next generation GLA and GLB and other models.

Digitalization and cost reduction

As Mercedes-Benz ramps up production of several new models in Europe, the company is integrating its MO360 manufacturing ecosystems and MO360 data platform into its plants, creating “digital twins“. Here, future improvements can be tested and validated before being implemented in factories.

Mercedes-Benz also announced a 10% reduction in production costs between 2024 and 2027. In addition to digitalization, to achieve this goal, Mercedes will use artificial intelligence, increase the use of renewable energy sources and strive to improve the efficiency of production and logistics. This is a clear sign that the company is moving towards a more efficient and sustainable future.
