The Japanese automaker Mazda officially introduced the updated CX-70 2026 crossover – a two-row mid-range SUV that combines a dynamic design, comfortable interior space and modern electrified powertrains. The new model retains the brand's characteristic style, but has received a number of technical and functional improvements.

The Mazda CX-70 model line includes three drive options – two e-Skyactiv-G 3.3L inline 6-cylinder gasoline engines with turbocharging and M-Hybrid Boost, and a hybrid version of the e-Skyactiv PHEV with all-wheel drive. All modifications are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ AWD all-wheel drive system. As standard, the crossover receives the Kinematic Posture Control system, which improves cornering stability, and the Mi-Drive complex with Sport and Off-Road modes, which allow adapting the car's dynamics to different driving conditions.

The main focus of the update is on the hybrid version of the CX-70 PHEV. Its e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain now has an increased electric range of up to 30 miles, or approximately 48 kilometers, according to the EPA methodology. Mazda engineers have managed to achieve this without sacrificing performance: the hybrid system's system output is 323 horsepower and torque reaches 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) when using the recommended premium fuel. The improved control system allows for the selection of charging mode (for forced charging of the battery by the internal combustion engine) and electric mode (for driving exclusively on electricity).

In addition to the technical changes, Mazda emphasizes its desire to give the CX-70 PHEV a more premium look. Exterior elements of the top model CX-70 PHEV SC include black nameplates and decorative inserts, a "honeycomb" grille, roof rails, a spoiler and special "PHEV" plates on the fenders. The car features new 19-inch gray alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights with auto-leveling function, daytime running lights, LED taillights, automatic high beam switching system and rain sensors.

The interior of the CX-70 PHEV SC has also been modernized. The cabin is trimmed with high-quality eco-leather, the steering wheel and gear lever are upholstered in genuine leather, and the driver's seat has eight-way electric adjustment and lumbar support. The interior lighting is made of LED elements, which create a pleasant atmosphere during night trips. For the comfort of passengers, there is enough luggage space, which makes the CX-70 a practical car for both family and travel.

The Mazda Connect multimedia system features a 12.3-inch touch display with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard equipment also includes a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an eight-speaker audio system, two pairs of USB-C ports front and rear, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, push-button start and automatic climate control. In addition, for the first time, the CX-70 has integrated the Amazon Alexa voice assistant, which allows you to control the car's functions by voice.

The model's safety arsenal is traditionally rich. Standard Mazda i-Activsense systems include: Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist, Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Warning and a Rear View Camera with Static Lane Marking.

The Mazda CX-70 PHEV SC's base price in the US is $47,810. The more expensive CX-70 PHEV SC Plus trim level, priced at $51,100, adds even more luxury and convenience: genuine leather upholstery, eight-way power passenger seat adjustment, seat position memory, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel, a head-up display with active driving function and rear window sunshades. Driver assistance systems have also been improved – in particular, the secondary collision mitigation function, which reduces the risk of a second collision, and front and rear parking sensors have been introduced.
