One of South Korea's car brands ceases to exist - 1

The Samsung brand will soon cease to exist as a car brand. Car production at the South Korean plant will continue, but cars will now be made under the Renault brand. This is reported by the website Econovill .

Samsung Motors' rebranding has been ongoing for several years. In 2022, the company was renamed Renault Korea Motors, and from April 2024, it is now called only Renault Korea.

Therefore, the Samsung XM3 becomes the Renault Arkana. At the same time, the Samsung QM6 was renamed the Renault QM6. This is a version of the Koleos crossover, which has already been discontinued in Europe.

The flagship Samsung SM6 (twin brother of the Renault Talisman) is still produced under the Korean brand, but soon it too will receive the Renault logo. And in the summer, a completely new model created jointly with Geely (the Chinese concern acquired a stake in Renault Korea) should debut.

This will be the end of the Samsung car brand. The automotive division of Samsung appeared in 1995. Initially, the South Korean corporation collaborated with Nissan and produced the Nissan Maxima and Almera sedans under the Samsung brand.

After the crisis of 1998, Samsung decided to abandon the production of cars and two years later sold the company to the Renault Group. The French decided to keep the Samsung brand, but all its models were actually Renault versions. 104,000 Samsung cars sold in 2023.
