ZF cuts 14,000 in its electric mobility division - 1

ZF has announced the reorganization of its German branches. In recent years, their number has been constantly increasing, which is also due to the acquisition of the large companies TRW and Wabco.

Strong competition, price pressure, and most importantly - weak demand for electric vehicles necessitate the restructuring of the division for electromobility - Electrified Powertrain Technology.

As a result, the number of employees in Germany may be reduced by 12,000 to 14,000 souls, and this will happen in stages until the end of 2028. It should be noted that today the company's staff is about 54,000 people.

A higher level of automation and consistent digitization should contribute to increasing competitiveness. There is also something else to consider.

The transition to electric mobility will lead to a reduction in the production of transmissions for cars with internal combustion engines, including hybrids, which will also lead to layoffs.

At the same time, ZF will continue to invest in the Commercial Vehicle Technologies, Chassis Solutions, Industrial Technologies and Aftermarket divisions, as well as continuing to offer traditional CNG transmissions.
