Renault plans to revolutionize the design and layout of its electric cars. The brand's chief designer Gilles Vidal said that the new generation of battery models, which will debut in 2028, will demonstrate a breakthrough in style. In particular, Renault intends to radically rethink the crossover segment.
According to Vidal, Renault does not intend to give up large models, because they remain popular. However, the crossover segment in Europe is often criticized, especially in comparison with minivans of similar size. In addition, the brand's audience often regrets the lack of modern station wagons in the model line.
In response to these trends, the company plans to launch a number of innovative, bold solutions that will combine attractiveness with practicality and comfort. As an example, Vidal mentioned the Embleme concept, the production version of which could appear in a few years.
Although the latest innovations of the 4, 5 and Twingo electric cars are inspired by the brand's historical heritage, Vidal said that this approach will not determine Renault's future strategy. The new models will be significantly different, reflecting the evolution of design.
It also became known that Renault is opening a new research center in China. It will include a design department that will work on the creation of new models, including for the European market. The first project of this center could be presented as early as next year.
