Toyota is preparing to release the thirteenth generation of Corolla, which is scheduled to debut in 2026. The future model will receive an updated design, new drives, as well as a powerful GR version that will continue the brand's sporting traditions.
Corolla will traditionally be presented in three body styles: hatchback, sedan and station wagon. The design of the car will undergo major changes, drawing inspiration from the latest Toyota models - Prius, C-HR and Camry.
The new model will receive a more sculpted body with widened fenders, a pointed hood and large wheels that will emphasize the dynamic nature of the model. Boomerang-shaped LED headlights will add aggressiveness to the exterior, and the new shape of the front bumper will further emphasize the sporty style.
The updates will also affect the practicality of the car. The rear doors will become longer, which will improve access to the second row of seats. It is expected that the taillights will become thinner and receive new graphics, and the design of the rear bumper will repeat the front of the car.
The interior of the future Corolla will be designed in the style of the new Prius. A digital instrument panel, a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected.
In addition, the car will receive an artificial intelligence voice control system, a level two semi-autonomous driving function, a panoramic roof and an increased luggage compartment.
Toyota is developing a new generation of 1.5- and 2.0-liter gasoline engines, which will be used in standard and hybrid versions of the model. The new 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine will have a power of about 130 hp, and its turbocharged version will have up to 180 hp.
The sporty GR Corolla will have an upgraded 1.6-liter turbo engine with a power of over 300 hp, and the top version can be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine with a potential power of up to 400 hp.
Despite the significant increase in power, this modification will retain the classic manual transmission, although an automatic one will also appear. The official debut of the thirteenth generation Toyota Corolla is planned for 2026, when the model will go on sale.
