Europe continues record LNG imports - 1

In January, Europe set a record for liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, amid lower temperatures and rapid depletion of gas storage facilities, according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe.

At the end of January, LNG flows from European terminals to the EU gas transmission system amounted to about 12.7 billion cubic meters, which is 0.1% less than in December 2025 and 22% more than in January 2025.

LNG supplies in January were in second place in share among gas sources in Europe - 27.7%, according to data from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) as of January 30. In first place with a share of 40.3% is the choice of underground gas storage facilities, in third place with 21.4% are supplies from the North Sea (mainly Norwegian gas), in fourth place with 5.1% are supplies from North Africa.

This exceeds the figures for supplies from the East (Russian gas, gas supplies from Ukraine, as well as European companies that take their gas from Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities) - 3.8%. Gas supplies from Azerbaijan amount to 1.8%.
