On the last weekend of summer, heavy traffic on the main roads. The traffic is also intense because of the three weekends around Independence Day.

There is also increased control on the road. The police are checking for alcohol and speed. The movement of trucks is limited. “Traffic Police” cars are again in traffic to monitor for cars in the emergency lane and for those who are squeezing other cars in the overtaking lane.

There is serious traffic and traffic jams in the Kresna Gorge.

Heavy traffic today at noon almost blocked the exit from Sofia on “Botevgradsko Shose” before joining the “Hemus” highway, BGNES reported. Traffic in the overtaking left lane towards Varna is limited.

On the highway, traffic in the section from km 0 to km 8 is carried out in two directions in the lane towards Varna due to repairs to the lane towards Sofia. Two lanes have been set up in the direction of Varna at the exit from Sofia, writes API. One lane is along the route of the highway, the second lane is through the village of Dolni Bogrov. For drivers passing through the village of Dolni Bogrov, when joining the highway, a lane has been set up passing through the emergency lane, with balises placed in place to regulate and direct the direction of traffic. The Road Agency draws attention to the fact that when a temporary traffic organization is introduced, passing through the emergency lane is permitted and no sanctions are imposed.

The Road Agency appeals to drivers to strictly comply with the introduced traffic organization, not to undertake risky maneuvers and not to pass between the balises, in order to turn on the highway earlier, which leads to difficulties and delays in traffic and is a prerequisite for accidents.

The Road Agency recalls that from September 15, preventive repairs began on 8.3 km of the "Hemus" motorway in the Sofia lane, in the section from the village of Yana to the entrance to the capital. During the construction work, traffic will pass two-way in the Varna lane, with one lane in each direction of traffic. In case of heavy traffic and at the discretion of the "Traffic Police" it is possible to limit the passage of vehicles over 12 tons on this section of the motorway, and they will be redirected along an alternative route along the I-1 Yana - Gorni Bogrov - Dolni Bogrov - Sofia road.

The section is in poor condition and in the spring and summer geodetic surveys were carried out on the route, necessary for the development of the technological project for repair. It provides for a complete replacement of the pavement and laying a geogrid to reinforce it, and drainage will also be improved. After the repair, the section will have new restrictive systems, markings and signs.

The planned deadline for completing the repair in the Sofia lane is October 31. The construction and installation activities will be carried out under the contract for the maintenance of the “Hemus“ motorway by the company “Automagistrali“ EAD.

The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency apologizes to citizens for the inconvenience caused, but the repair work is necessary to ensure traffic safety and increase travel comfort. Drivers are required to comply with traffic rules and speed limits, and not to undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of all other travelers.
