A man broke into medical premises at the Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Ivan Rilski“ in Razgrad“.
A signal was filed with the police, and the teams responded immediately and through their timely assistance, the identity of the perpetrator was established, and he was later detained. This was reported to BTA by the executive director of the hospital, Dr. Stanimir Georgiev.
He explained that the man had been admitted as a patient to the emergency department. After being examined by the doctor on duty, instead of leaving the hospital, he entered the building and went up to the top floor.
He managed to break into the office of the Regional Medical College of the Bulgarian Medical Union in Razgrad. He also entered the therapy office in the neighboring department, where there are no medical personnel on duty.
The incident occurred yesterday (September 20). The director of the Razgrad hospital stated that since it was a day off, only an inspection was made by the staff on duty, and at first reading no shortages were found inside the offices.
“There are no medicines or expensive medical equipment in the premises. They are only duty offices, where there are items of no value“, said Dr. Stanimir Georgiev. According to his information, the man is not from Razgrad and has committed other crimes of a similar nature during the day.
Dr. Georgiev stated that this is the second consecutive case of a criminal incident on the territory of the “St. Ivan Rilski” Hospital in Razgrad within a week. A few days ago, citizens who came for an examination in the emergency department, after aggressive behavior, attacked a nurse on duty in the department. They almost reached the doctor on duty, but police officers intervened and once again prevented a more serious incident.
