“The parking reform that everyone is waiting for is NOT a dead end. The second public discussion of the change we proposed will end in a few days. I am convinced that this big step should be a joint effort and success for the entire Municipal Council,“ said the leader of “Save Sofia” Boris Bonev.
On his initiative, on September 12, a new meeting was held with representatives of PP-DB, GERB, Blue Sofia and independent councilors. “During this meeting with PP-DB, we reached an understanding that we must join forces and submit a joint new draft solution. We are completely open to making the necessary changes so that each political force can see its priorities in the reform. We also expect support from the mayor, who has repeatedly publicly stated that it is imperative,“ Bonev emphasized.
The main priorities of "Save Sofia" remain:
dramatic reduction of service subscriptions and a double increase in their price;
change in prices and scope of paid zones;
change in working hours of paid zones;
free places for charging and dropping off students;
directing additional revenues towards building parking lots and purchasing new vehicles for public transport.
"The meeting with PP–DB was supposed to be last week, but at their request it was postponed so that the results of the public survey would be ready. I am still waiting for information on when to hold it, because people are expecting this reform,“ added Boris Bonev.
“We will do everything possible to implement this reform in order to restore justice to the way parking spaces are managed in Sofia,“ he concluded.
