A tourist was seen swimming in the Kidney - one of the protected Seven Rila Lakes. Footage from Wednesday morning shows a man entering the waters of the lake and then starting to swim, Nova TV reports.
The director of the “Rila“ National Park Krasimir Andonov reported that the signal was received on 112.
“The park guard was notified, and when he arrived at the scene, no one was there anymore. It is difficult to establish the identity of the person filmed swimming in the lake. As far as I understood from eyewitnesses, he was an Italian. We cannot find out his temporary residence and whether he is still in the country. This year it is striking that foreigners are breaking the rules, and Bulgarians are reporting the violations. Apparently tourists do not read the warning signs, which are also in English, so I am considering putting up bigger signs“, Andonov explained.
