In the high-mountainous regions, the rain turns into snow, reports the "Road Infrastructure" Agency (API).
Currently, snow is falling in the area of the "Petrohan" pass. The road is being processed by snow removal machines to ensure the safety of travelers. According to weather forecasts, rain is expected, which may turn into snow in mountain passes.
The Road Agency advises drivers to set off on the road with suitable tires, to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed, without taking risky overtaking.
The regional road departments and road maintenance companies are monitoring forecasts and are ready to treat the pavements in the high-mountainous regions, where low temperatures and precipitation are likely to cause slipperiness and icing, especially in the early morning hours.
It is expected that winter maintenance of the republican road network will be introduced throughout the country in the period November 1-15, depending on weather conditions. With forecasts for a permanent decrease in temperatures, winter maintenance may begin earlier in high-mountain regions and passes, where temperatures are lower and there are conditions for slippery surfaces and icing. An organization has been created to start preventive and snow removal activities as quickly as possible in the event of expected deterioration in the weather, in order to ensure the passability of the roads.
API calls on drivers to start preparing their cars for winter without waiting for the first sub-zero temperatures and to monitor the good technical condition of the vehicles.
