The services will be used. This is how President Rumen Radev commented on the two bills, providing for a change in the body that appoints the chairmen of the State Agency “Intelligence“ (DAR) and the State Agency “National Security“ (DANS), quoted by dariknews.bg.
We recall that today the deputies considered the bills proposing that the heads of the two departments be elected by the National Assembly upon a proposal by the Council of Ministers. Currently, they are appointed by presidential decree. The bills were submitted by Alexander Rashev („There are such people“) and a group of deputies from the ruling coalition.
"These changes will finally subordinate the services to the political goals of the ruling party. And the services, believe me, will be used - not only for manipulation in elections, not only for covering up thefts and robberies, but also for composing compromising materials against the inconvenient and stifling any possible opposition," Radev said at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“, where he attended the presentation of a phototype edition of “Macedonian Almanac“.
He did not hide his expectations that similar tactics would be used against him.
The President recalled a GERB proposal from 2013, when the party requested that the presidential institution be the body that appoints the heads of the two departments:
"What has changed now that they deny their own motives?", Radev asked.
The Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC) rules in accordance with the law, and the law is very clear. This is how the head of state commented on the news that the SCC refused to initiate proceedings on the requests of Borislav Sarafov, since his mandate as acting prosecutor general had expired.
"The law is very clear with the conditions and terms in which this position can be held temporarily. It is high time that our judicial system was organized in such a way that there is a true rule of law, and not a rule of force," he said.
