The government is making every effort to make the development of the Armed Forces a priority. This was said by the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov in his greeting to the cadets of the Class of 2025 “Slivnishko-Dragomanski“ – specialization “Medical Support of the Armed Forces“ of the Higher Naval School “N. Y. Vaptsarov“, who were produced in the officer rank “lieutenant“ at the Military Medical Academy (MMA), BTA reports.

Zapryanov recalled that since the beginning of this year The average salaries of military personnel in the Bulgarian Army have been increased by 30%, and scholarships for training in higher military schools have also been increased.

The number of candidates for service in the Armed Forces and for training in higher military schools has increased sharply, the Minister of Defense also said.

According to him, an accelerated modernization of our armed forces is about to be carried out. He noted that if all the projects that have been started and those that are about to start under the EU “SAFE” mechanism are implemented, by the end of 2030 our armed forces will be qualitatively different from the state they are in now.

“Get ready to be doctors, to take care of the health of our military personnel, and in times of combat operations – to provide medical care to the allies with whom we will fight together“, Zapryanov addressed the cadets.

During the ceremony, the head of the Military Medical Academy, Major General Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, noted that nine years have passed since the beginning of the program for military doctors.

According to him, the third graduation, which is now being sent to the military units, proves that this is a tradition that gives hope for the development of military medicine. “Don't stop dreaming, the bigger your dreams, the bigger your achievements will be“, he told the cadets.
