7 million leva - that's how much the restoration of Tsarevo costs after the "Cherna" River overflowed its bed for the second time in two years, BTV reported.
Dozens of houses were flooded, and people are still cleaning up the damage.
The bridge that collapsed on the day of the flood has not yet been restored. It is at least 6 meters high, and the water overflowed from above at that time.
Until it is repaired, people from the settlements on the other side of this chasm are forced to reach their homes via a much longer detour route.
„Currently, active work is being done to secure the bypass road and pave it, as this road provides access to 5 settlements“, Vladimir Krumov, regional governor of Burgas, told bTV.
The Tsarevo municipality is starting to design a concrete riverbed that will be ready within two years.
„A concrete riverbed that will be deepened and, if possible, widened so that it can absorb these waters“, explains Tsarevo Deputy Mayor Denis Dikhanov.
And during these two years, the residents of the seaside town hope that the river will not flood them again.
