The average salary for the country in the third quarter of the year is 2549 leva, which is 12% more than the same quarter of 2024. This is according to the data of the information bulletin of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) in the field of income and living standards. The information is published on the website of the ministry.

The highest average salary is for Sofia-city – 3474 leva, which is nearly 25 percent more than the average salary for the country. The largest increase in average wages in the third quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2024 was reported in Targovishte (19.6%), Silistra (18.7%) and Smolyan (17.2%).

The data from the information bulletin show that the total household income for the period is 6,988 leva. This is 4.4% more than a year earlier, the MLSP commented.

In eight economic activities, average wages are above the average level for the country, and about a third of all workers are employed in them. The highest wages are in the activities “Creation and dissemination of information and creative products, telecommunications“ (5,512 leva); “Financial and insurance activities“ (3,716 leva); “Production and distribution of electricity, heat and gaseous fuels“ (3539 leva); “Professional activities and scientific research“ (3460 leva); “Public administration“ (3088 leva); “Mining and quarrying“ (3071 leva); “Education“ (2780 leva); “Human health and social work“ (2584 leva), also indicate the department's data.

The average gross annual salary in 2024 is 27,898 leva, increasing by 13.9 percent compared to 2023, according to final data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI), published at the end of November.
