The prosecution has been sentenced to pay compensation of nearly 400 thousand leva to Vasil Bozhkov's lawyer for the illegal accusation that he was in a criminal group with the gambling businessman, for which he was in custody for more than 3 months. This was decided by the Sofia City Court (SCC), where lawyer Slavcho Markov filed a claim for 300 thousand leva. BGN in non-pecuniary damages, BGN 70 thousand for lost profits from canceled contracts with clients and nearly BGN 33 thousand, which he paid for treatment and hospital stay, reports lex.bg.
Judge Stefan Shekerdzhiyski was going to award even greater compensation, but Markov's claim was for only BGN 300 thousand.
The decision shows that the majority of the amount for treatment is because he was forced to rent a VIP apartment in a private clinic so that employees of the General Directorate for the Execution of Sentences could be with him at all times.
