The President has made several contradictory requests for his political project. It is no coincidence that today we witnessed sharp remarks exchanged between the President and the political parties. Obviously, there is potential for a new political project, so everyone is rightly asking what the President's actions will be. The entire protest wave that has risen in recent weeks is not clear what project it will flow into, she pointed out.
Another significant divisive point is the foreign policy orientation, relations with Russia. These are important divisive topics that are not clear how they will develop. The other clear rift between the president and the parties is the eradication of corruption and the reform of public institutions, Nusheva listed.
According to her, it is important to focus our attention on what political parties envisage in the future governance of the country.
Our party system is in a period of transformation that began in 2020. Every 10-11 years, changes occur in the political system, new players appear. We see that in the last few years we have observed the rise of populist parties. It also depends on how resistant the parties are to external influences, the political scientist noted.
A key rule in the Bulgarian political system is that it is very difficult to see political leaders who step back and make way for the new generation of politicians, she reported.
We have not had 100% machine voting in all sections. The big problem is that the main functionality of the machines was removed - to report the election result. If changes are made to the Electoral Code, it would be reasonable to do it in two directions - to return machine voting in its full functionality and with respect to the members of the section election commissions. It is appropriate to have a control count and audit of the machines, Vanya Nusheva also said.
