They are most afraid of fair and free elections, that is why we will fight for machine voting and in the next elections Peevski must remain an electoral dwarf. This was said by the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria“ Bozhidar Bozhanov from the rostrum of the protest against the rulers in Sofia.
He told the gathered citizens that the rulers have refused to submit the budget for the third time, that Peevski is no longer in Todor Zhivkov's cabinet and that a full majority in a committee voted to drop his security – “because they are afraid of you“.
The chairman of “Continue the Change“ Asen Vassilev also spoke from the podium.
Then, with the performance of the Bulgarian anthem, the protest ended, with the organizers indicating that there would be no procession. Traffic in the area remains suspended.
During the protest, an appeal was made to people to become volunteers in the possible early elections next year, in order to guarantee the fairness of the vote. When the names of the chairman of GERB Boyko Borisov, the retired Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov, the chairman of “There is such a people” Slavi Trifonov and the party's MP Toshko Yordanov were booed by protesters.
Several times, those gathered chanted: "When pa, when pa, when Peevski falls, I don't want to be underneath, so he doesn't fall on me". The same was sung about the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. At one point, people hugged each other and chanted: "Together we will win" while jumping.
The protest from the Courthouse for independent justice, organized by the "Justice for Everyone" initiative, merged with the protest against the government.
