The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works reported a record collection from toll fees – over 1 billion leva have been received in the state treasury. This was announced at a briefing by Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov.
„Although resigned, the government continues to fulfill the commitments made when forming the cabinet. One of the first promises was to focus on the revenue side of the state treasury through measures aimed at collecting road fees - something that is not going at the necessary pace and collection rate“, with these words Ivanov began his statement.
“As a result of the activities of RIA and "BGTOL" to date, the collection rate is a record - over 1 billion leva - a goal set when the TOLL system was created. This year, the measures taken and all other improvements made within the framework of the National Toll Administration led to this result“, the minister revealed.
“The RIA's internal revenues are also record and are over 100 million leva. For the remaining days until the end of the year, RIA expects snowfall and we are fully prepared for winter maintenance for normal movement on the republican road network. During the holidays, we will stop the movement of heavy goods vehicles, so that we can facilitate movement outside and, accordingly, returning to Sofia“, said Eng. Yordan Valchev – member of the Management Board of the “Road Infrastructure“ Agency.
Valchev thanked the head of the National Toll Administration, Professor Oleg Asenov, for everything achieved. “It was not difficult to collect 1 billion leva – it was not difficult, because we made a clear plan on how to do it. We significantly improved the operational readiness of the system in its part of the control functions – the control frameworks, which tightened the mandatory control that had to be carried out“, Asenov announced on his side.
