The Association of European Journalists - Bulgaria is organizing a "protest coffee drinking" in front of the bTV building from 8 a.m. today. The reason is the suspension of journalist Maria Tsantsarova, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
On its Facebook page, the association points to the decision of the television management as the reason, which claims that the journalist violated editorial principles, including by publicly criticizing her direct supervisor.
The association writes that the Radio and Television Act protects the right of journalists to publicly criticize their employer, without this being considered disloyalty. They emphasize that the protest is in defense of freedom of speech, professional standards and the right of journalists to ask questions, emphasizing that the protest is professional, not political.
