Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev congratulated Nikolay Mladenov on his election as High Representative for Gaza. The three spoke in Davos before the establishment of the Peace Board. “The election of Nikolay Mladenov to this responsible position is a huge recognition of his long-standing work to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East region. "I believe that Nikolay will spare no energy and effort in the implementation of this highly responsible mission, which also enjoys the support of US President Donald Trump," said Prime Minister Zhelyazkov.

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev emphasized that the appointment of Nikolay Mladenov as High Representative is also a recognition of Bulgaria's opportunities for contribution to the Middle East peace process. “Bulgaria's moderate and balanced foreign policy position has always allowed us to play a constructive role in finding workable solutions for the sake of peace and stability in a region that is close to Bulgaria and whose stability is crucial for preventing negative consequences for the security of our region and the whole of Europe, including new waves of migrants”, added the number one Bulgarian diplomat.

During the conversation, Nikolay Mladenov assured Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov that the Peace Board initiative is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of 2025, which outlines a plan for the management, security and reconstruction of Gaza after the conflict, as well as with President Trump's 20-point plan for peace in Gaza. Mladenov emphasized that in the Peace Board's charter, the financial contribution of the participating states is voluntary and no state is financially obligated.
