„Rumen Radev appeared on the political scene when it was most expected. It did not surprise me. It was a natural move after so much talking and preparation. In my opinion, however, now was not the time“, said in „This Sunday“ on bTV Cornelia Ninova, former chairwoman of the BSP, current chairwoman of the party „Unruly Bulgaria“.
According to her, the strongest moment for him was during the protests in 2020.
„We were there for him then. Then there was that energy for a real change of the model, but unfortunately he did not do it then. He put his fist in his pocket and went back to the presidency“, said Ninova.
„Judging by what happened after the announcement of his resignation, I am already surprised here. For now, Ahmed Dogan, who is the architect of the transition, Delyan Peevski's father, is standing next to him. I would not say that this is a good move. In addition, Vasil Bozhkov, a line of all kinds of office-goers“, she also commented.
According to her, this casts a shadow on his intention to fight the model and change it.
Kornelia Ninova admitted that a partnership between GERB and Rumen Radev is possible.
„This is a betrayal, but the current government in resignation – all the parties inside swore before that they would not be with each other, and in the end they hugged each other“, she added.
That is why for her one of the big problems in politics is morality.
When asked whether Rumen Radev will “suck“ the BSP electorate in the upcoming elections, Ninova said that she expects the BSP not to enter the next parliament. But as a bigger reason for this, she pointed to “betrayal to the voters“.
“The betrayal of causes, ideas and principles, professed by me for at least 10 years before, not to form a coalition with the GERB-DPS model. This is the reason why people are disappointed and are running away from the BSP“, Ninova pointed out.
She said that “Unruly Bulgaria“ will run in the elections, and the future of the party will depend on the people who will vote.
„We will convince people of two advantages that we have over other parties. One is the moral component, and the other is the team“, emphasized Kornelia Ninova.
Her team will include experienced people who left with her when she was expelled from the BSP, and the others are new young people.
Kornelia Ninova said that she is skeptical that Rumen Radev's party will achieve an absolute majority.
