A new outbreak of African swine fever has been discovered in Romania - 1

An outbreak of African swine fever has been established in the Romanian district of Giurgiu, but at the moment there is no danger to Bulgaria. This was announced by the regional governor of Ruse, Dragomir Draganov. According to him, it concerns infected domestic pigs in the Poshta area, Buturugeni municipality, about 70 kilometers from Ruse. The Romanian authorities have already taken all necessary measures to contain the disease.

This was warned by "Nova TV".

Draganov indicated that he is in constant contact with the institutions on both sides of the Danube and that, according to experts, there is no risk of the infection entering and spreading in our country at this stage. He stressed that on the Danube Bridge near Ruse-Giurgiu, constant disinfection of all cars and trucks entering the country is carried out, and personal and industrial pig farms are protected. Due to the remoteness of the outbreak from the border, no additional restrictive measures are required.

Nearly 6,000 pigs killed in Romania due to an outbreak of African swine fever

The authorities in Giurgiu have declared protection and surveillance zones covering over 30 settlements in Giurgiu and Ilfov counties.
