Europe can no longer rely to the same extent on the commitment of the United States and must take greater responsibility for its own security.
This was stated by diplomat Stefan Tafrov in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov“ on NOVA NEWS.
According to him, after World War II, European countries built their security under the military protection of the United States and within NATO, but this model is now in question.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Tafrov said that Russia did not achieve its initial goals and failed to destroy Ukrainian statehood. According to him, without increased pressure, Moscow will not agree to real peace negotiations.
“Russia will not be able to liquidate the Ukrainian state. Even if it squeezes out territorial concessions, it has already suffered serious political, economic and international losses“, said Tafrov.
In conclusion, the diplomat stressed that Bulgaria must be part of European processes related to security.
