Many of the dams in the country are filling their volumes due to heavy snowfall and rain.
There is a release of water volume in key dams where necessary, announced the acting Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Hristanov, quoted by the press center of the department. He inspected the condition of two dams in the Plovdiv and Haskovo districts - Topolnitsa and Trakiets.
At the moment, the Topolnitsa dam is over 90% full. The second inspected site is the Trakiets dam, which has been in operation since 1967, but due to damage to the guides, the discharger is not working for the dam and Act 16 has not been issued to date.
Khristanov reported that in 2016 the Ministry of Agriculture commissioned the preparation of a detailed design for repairs, but the necessary budget funding was not provided.
Subsequently, Trakiets is one of the four dams for which urgent repairs and reconstruction have been commissioned, but in "Irrigation Systems" there is no information about any actions taken for this, the Minister of Agriculture also said.
