I could have been Minister of Interior, I had a meeting with Andrey Gyurov, at which I explained the reasons why I have not been actively involved in politics for years, although I am not indifferent to what is happening in the services, the Ministry of Interior, and the judicial system. I have no ambitions for a political post. There were interpretations of my words - when did we meet. I met with him the day before he was nominated by decree of President Yotova. This was said by the former Minister of Internal Affairs, Prof. Veselin Vuchkov, in the studio of "Denyat ON AIR".
The new deputy ministers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Asked if he knew Georgi Kandev, who will hold the position of deputy secretary general, he replied: "I know him, I even know him better than everyone who talks about him. He was one of my best students. I also followed his career closely as director of the Department of Internal Affairs-Blagoevgrad. My impressions of him are very good. I know two of the three newly appointed deputy ministers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Kaloyan Kaloyanov and Ivan Anchev".
"Everyone in their career has come into contact with someone else's "management assistance" - some minister appointed them, another promoted them. I am not sure that this is how we should interpret the professional development of a person. The future is ahead of them, he will not be the holder of the post of Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The absence of the previous Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is noticeable. This person is absent from the public space. During his administration, quite a few events took place that captured public and media attention - the elections in Pazardzhik, the case of "Petrohan", noted Prof. Vuchkov on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.
The investigation against Emil Dechev
"I find everything that is happening, even before this tragic incident, including what happened around the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, very strange. This is an attack on the Minister of Internal Affairs. We must distinguish things - with regard to the investigation of pre-trial proceedings, no employee in the hierarchy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the Minister, can interfere in the investigation. It is carried out by a specific investigative body, these are the investigating police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but they could also be investigators or customs officers," the guest explained.
"I am also surprised by another thing - officers of the Directorate of Internal Affairs for Internal Affairs conducting an internal investigation against a minister. This is a complete mess. How is such a possible influence of the Minister of Internal Affairs checked? If we assume that he carried out such a thing, then the investigation, including information from several people, must be completed within a week. And those who commissioned it should announce the results,", Prof. Veselin Vuchkov is categorical.
A tragedy unknown in our recent history
According to him, we should not rely so much on foreign help in the "Petrohan - Okolchitsa" case.
"This tragedy is unknown in our recent times. There are six dead people, regardless of whether it is a question of many suicides and several murders, there are also small children. We must not forget that these people have loved ones and relatives. These people are faced with the abyss of their self-accusation, there is no other way out but to reject the facts presented by the police. For me, an important fragment is the work of the State Security Service around the "Petrohan" case in the months and years before that," he emphasized.
The former interior minister is of the opinion that the acting head of the State Security Service, Denyo Denev, should be replaced.
"This is a person who has not proven that he can hold such a responsible titular position. Both the police, the State Security Service, and the prosecutor's office are overflowing with positions that are temporarily filled. It is high time to move towards a reboot, including the leaders of the judicial system," he added.
