Eurostat: Annual inflation in Bulgaria slows for another month  - 1

The pace of consumer prices in the euro area countries accelerated to 1.9% on an annual basis in February 2026, compared to 1.7% in the first month of the year. This is according to the latest Eurostat data on inflation in the EU.

In the European Union, inflation rose slightly – to 2.1% in February on an annual basis, or 0.1 percentage points above the January level.

Annual inflation in Bulgaria slowed for the fifth consecutive month and fell to 2.1% in February. In January, inflation in our country decreased to 2.3% from 3.5% in December 2025.

Compared to January this year inflation in Bulgaria weakened in February, falling from 0.6% to 0.2%.

According to NSI data published earlier this week, annual inflation in our country for February this year compared to the same month of the previous year decreased to 3.3%. The decrease compared to January amounts to 0.2 percentage points, since annual inflation in the first month of 2026 was 3.5%. Monthly inflation in February amounted to 0.4%.

Among EU countries, the lowest annual inflation last month was recorded in Denmark (0.5%), Cyprus (0.9%) and the Czech Republic (1.0%), and the highest in Romania (8.3%), Slovakia (4.0%) and Croatia (3.9%).

Compared to January 2026, annual inflation fell in eleven Member States, remained unchanged in four and increased in twelve.
