Krum Zarkov: We will insist on serious investments in social entrepreneurship

"We will propose a comprehensive new model for access to health and social services in two aspects - their reorganization and the fight against abuse.". This was stated by the chairman of the BSP, Krum Zarkov, during a meeting with social workers and parents of children with disabilities. As an example, he pointed to the huge number of fake TELKs that divert resources that could be used.
The leader of the BSP-United Left list in Varna, Dr. Desislav Taskov, is of the opinion that the specialized TELK should be returned, both for socially significant diseases and for psychiatric expertise. "It is not humane to make life harder for those who have it the hardest", he stressed.
Zarkov believes that serious investments should be made in social entrepreneurship for people with disabilities who can be active. "They will feel better, and we as a society win. It is of key importance for them and their parents".
"We also have a special view of the social sphere, as a state - social workers. Low-paid jobs that lead to high turnover, because the low salary is compensated by a huge amount of work", said Zarkov. He believes that the entire sphere should be reviewed and financed in a different way, but also to increase control over the quality of work of social workers. "They deserve respect and should be supported with a completely different attitude".
According to him, the view that society has towards people with disabilities and those who care for them is extremely important. "This care must be recognized, not only spiritually, but also as an internship, work and material remuneration. Because dedicating your life to someone else is an occupation that deserves not just respect, but appreciation. A society is measured by how it takes care of people in a weaker position. And not by the number of multimillionaires.", the chairman of the BSP National Assembly also said.
"One thing I have not been able to understand, even when we have worked on the laws in parliament - how can anyone imagine that this can be a policy financed on a project basis, i.e. periodically. People who take care of people with disabilities become like fund hunters. They are better specialized than those who deal with this professionally, because they are forced to monitor everything.". According to Zarkov, there must be a sustainable policy and budget financing.
"Specialized health care and services for people with disabilities are necessary. As a doctor, I have encountered similar cases and I know how difficult it is.", added the leader of the BSP list in Varna, Dr. Desislav Taskov.
He is of the opinion that a contract should be concluded with health facilities to provide an emergency portal and basic medical care.
The candidates for national representatives committed to starting work on the laws immediately after the elections. "The proposals need to come from people who have actually encountered the situation and problems of people with disabilities.", added Zarkov.
