The Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council will consider the proposal for disciplinary release of member of the prosecutor's college Yordan Stoev. It was submitted last week by 48 deputies, BNT recalls.
The request for Stoev's release is due to a recording of a conversation between him and former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev from 3 years ago. At the meeting, Geshev tells him that after his return from the US he received a threatening letter that if he does not resign, compromising material will be released against him. The two also discuss the behavior of the members of the SJC.
Yordan Stoev will be heard at the Plenum today, after which the proposal and the information on it will be discussed. There is also an opportunity to collect additional information. If circumstances are established that undermine the prestige of the judiciary, the Supreme Judicial Council will decide what the outcome should be. In order to release Stoev, at least 17 of the 20 votes of the SJC members are needed.
