Today I congratulated Péter Magyar on the election result. I also congratulated the citizens of Hungary, who declared their will with record turnout and showed Europe that democracy is not just a ballot box. It is the unyielding voice of the people, which says: We are here, we care.
I believe that the true strength of a country is not measured only by its institutions, but by its civil society - the people who ask, who demand, who do not give up.

Europe is not geography and financial funds. It is a choice. A choice to be together in our values. To preserve freedom. To stand up for dignity.
We saw in Hungary what happens when people believe that their voice has power. Now comes our moment in Bulgaria. The caretaker government is making every effort to ensure that the elections are fair, according to the rules and that every vote is protected. But the great power lies with the citizens. High voter turnout will be the greatest victory for democracy.
