„Bulgaria is extremely unprepared for the liberalization of the electricity market from July 1 this year” . This was stated by the MP from the party “There is such a people” Grozdan Karadzhov in the show “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS.
From that date, electricity wholesalers should have been able to freely negotiate electricity prices, the deputy explained. According to him, this energy mix, which is much more profitable for the Bulgarian citizen, also includes a night tariff. “On March 31, research for the Energy Efficiency Agency showed that almost two-thirds of the electricity people use is at night. This is the most disturbing – with liberalization, the poorest stratum of our citizens will be hit. From 2016, protection for this interlayer is planned, but we are still not ready for real action, Karadjov explained.
Abolition of the night tariff will hit these 2,250 million Bulgarian citizens, he is categorical. 75% of their electricity bill is from the night tariff, the deputy specified. According to him, the postponement of liberalization is so that the next cabinet can bring the Bulgarians into this protective framework.
According to him, the money for the difference in the price of electricity for the energy poor should have come from the Energy System Security Fund. “Asen Vassilev drained this fund”, he explained. “The obligation to return BGN 1 billion to the energy fund was not fulfilled by the previous Finance Minister Vassilev. Now the money will come from the budget and thus the deficit will increase. This will affect the acceptance of our country in the Eurozone”, explained Karadjov.
Regarding the report on “Botash”, he explained that it contains facts that can be used by the European Commission for a possible criminal procedure.
