MEP Alexander Yordanov insisted on the confiscation of the "Kamchia" complex. during a debate in the European Parliament dedicated to the use of Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine, BNR reported.
"In Bulgaria, on the coast of the beautiful Black Sea, that is, on the European border, there is a territory of nearly 470,000 square meters, which is entirely owned by the Moscow City Hall. It is bigger than the Vatican. The Russian capital acquired this property nearly 20 years ago and has gradually built a center for advancing its interests in Europe," Yordanov emphasized and more:
"Sergei Lavrov defined this Russian base as an "ideal model" of Russian soft power, which is the basis of the "Russian world" concept. And this is the concept that today is Russia's argument for aggression against Ukraine".
There is a Bulgarian proverb – "he who breaks, he will buy", addressed the supreme representative for foreign policy and security Josep Borel Andrey Kovachev from the same party. According to him, it is logical that those who destroy civilian infrastructure should also bear financial responsibility for the damage they have caused:
"Human life, unfortunately, cannot be recovered and the enormous suffering caused by Putin cannot be repaid, but infrastructure can at least be restored"
Borel recalled that a month ago he proposed to the member states that 90 percent of the revenues from Russian assets go to increase military aid to Ukraine under the European Peace Support Mechanism. The remaining 10% is for the EU budget to raise funds to support the recovery of Ukraine and the defense industry.
