On May 5, Sunday, unit five of the nuclear power plant NPP " Kozloduy" will be stopped for scheduled annual repairs and refueling with nuclear fuel, BNT reported.
In implementation of the program of NPP "Kozloduy" for diversification, RWFA-type cartridges manufactured by "Westinghouse" will be loaded into the unit's reactor, after receiving permission from the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the plant reported.
The quantity of the new cartridges needed for the first recharge was delivered to the Kozloduy NPP. on April 20. A quarter of the cartridges in the reactor are replaced during each refueling during the annual planned repairs, thus the process of phased transition to the new nuclear fuel will last 4 years.
During the stay, which is planned to end by the middle of June, the necessary activities for repair, prevention and preventive maintenance of the equipment and systems of block 5 will be carried out. This will ensure the safe and reliable operation of the nuclear power during the next fueling campaign of the reactor.
