I think that the report that we submitted for consideration under the heading " Vote freely" is totally misunderstood. We hoped for support from all parties in the Metropolitan Municipal Council (SOC), because for us this is an important sign that we are working to strengthen the institutions. I don't think anyone would say that we don't suffer from trust in institutions and low voter turnout. The purpose of this report was just that - to urge people to vote for whoever they want. This campaign was not intended to be used for political purposes, as today's entire SOS meeting is, where everything is turned into a covert election campaign.
This was stated by the Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, after the session of the SOS, reported novini.bg.
"For us, the topic of trust in the institutions is much more important than the topics for me, for Mr. Petrov. Our task is to restore trust in the institutions, so that citizens have more reasons to vote, are aware of their rights and know what to do if there are irregularities. I cannot understand what is illegal - the materials of the EC, the materials of the CEC? It is illegal to campaign for a particular party by using a power resource and directing the election somewhere. Is it illegal to try to boost voter turnout? I am sad that once again we do not find a common language and are stuck in everyday problems. There should not be constant conversations in a loud voice about some untenable topics", Terziev was categorical.
