UniBIT and the "Customs" Agency will cooperate in the fight against crime and in the training of specialists  - 1

In a solemn setting in hall “Meeting“ of the University of Librarianship and Information Technologies (UniBIT), today, June 25, 2024, a framework contract for cooperation and interaction between the “Customs“ Agency was signed. and the University.

The delegation from the agency, consisting of Mr. Georgi Dimov – Chairman, Mr. Plamen Pavlov – Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Sonia Valkova, Director of the “Legal-normative“ and Dr. Vyara Genova-Rudolf, Head of the “Public Relations and Protocol” department, discussed thoroughly and thoroughly with the Management of UniBIT the possibilities and prospects for cooperation between the two respected state institutions.

UniBIT was presented by Prof. Ph.D. Irena Peteva – Rector, Prof. Dr. Ivanka Pavlova – Vice-rector for academic activities, Prof. Dr. Hristina Bogova – Dean of the Faculty of Librarianship and Cultural Heritage, Associate Professor Dr. Plamen Bogdanov (Brig. Gen.) – Head of the “National Security” Department, Assoc. Dr. Katya Rasheva-Yordanova – Deputy Dean for Academic Activities and Prof. D.Sc. Stoyan Denchev – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UniBIT.

The university highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the “Customs“ Agency. over the years, related to the fight against drug trafficking and the prevention of drug use among Bulgarian students, as well as the interaction in the fight against financial crimes with the participation of specialists from UniBIT, brought in as forensic experts in landmark court cases.

Within the framework of the signed Agreement, the two sides established the rules of interaction for the training of customs officials in the master's program "Identification, authentication and assessment of cultural and artistic values". as well as the conditions for the participation of the Agency's representatives as guest lecturers from practice in the training of students from UniBIT's master's programs.

The management of the Agency also became interested in the possibilities of increasing the qualification of its employees by preparing and defending theses at the Doctoral School of the University.

Prof. Peteva and Prof. Denchev congratulated the Agency and all its employees on the upcoming professional holiday on July 7 – 145 years since the Decree of Prince Alexander I of Battenberg establishing the “Customs” Agency.

The members of the official delegation were pleasantly surprised by the demonstrated respect for the history of their institution and expressed their sincere thanks to their hosts.
