Position of the youth union in the BSP in relation to the action of the DANS and the detention of Zlatomir Devlenski
The youth union in the BSP expresses its serious concerns regarding the actions of the Territorial Directorate of National Security - Plovdiv and the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv. The arrest of Zlatomir Devlenski - member of the BSP and chairman of the National Movement “Russophiles” for Plovdiv - region raises questions that were not answered.
We express our well-founded doubts about the reason for Zlatomir's arrest officially disclosed to the media - dissemination of a state secret. We remind you that precisely because of the unprincipled actions of the law enforcement authorities, Bulgaria was repeatedly condemned by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
We call on the institutions called to monitor the legal order in the country to act transparently and to provide the public with full information about the case.
We are convinced that the employees of the Territorial Directorate of National Security - Plovdiv and the magistrates from the District Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv, are people with qualities and morals who can help Bulgarian society in the fight against real criminal activity, which unfortunately flourishes in our society.
Bulgaria needs people who, with their courage and determination, protect the common citizen. We hope that these people will not be used in an unworthy manner, destroying trust in the state and its institutions.
We remind you that the chairman of the National Movement "Russophiles" - Plovdiv Zlatomir Devlenski was detained on Monday by DANS.
Documents were also seized from the traffic office. It is still not clear why Devlensky was arrested.
Devlenski works as a junior expert in the "Coordination and project" department of the municipality of Rodopi. He is a doctoral student at Plovdiv University, as well as a graduate student at Astrakhan State University in Russia. He was a BSP candidate for Bulgaria in 2022.
