The first most important battle that we face to come, is about leftist values and their enforcement. We are talking about a revolution on the left in the context of all the challenges of today's world – financial, economic, crises, turbulence, the emerging new world order, the new financial and economic parameters, the bipolar block world that is taking shape, the battle between the North and the South, which is not from yesterday.
This is what Dr. Kaloyan Pargov said – chairman of SINPI and member of the National Assembly of the BSP, during the discussion "(R)evolution of the left: the road before Bulgaria", organized by the BSP, with the assistance of the "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation, in which representatives of left parties and movements, political scientists and analysts.
In his words, the big question is what is the place of the left in the modern world. “All of us, as representatives of left parties, no matter smaller or larger, must solve this task together. And it is the battle for leftist values”, Pargov pointed out.
He pointed out that the key concept for the left is not social justice, because both right-wing and far-right parties have strong social programs. And he gave an example that Hitler also had a very strong social program.
„Rather, the idea is about the redistribution of power and the sovereignty of the state. Without, of course, equating it with nationalism. This has nothing to do with him“, Kaloyan Pargov is convinced.
Regarding the topic of who are the big and who are the small parties on the left, he said that the understanding of equality and equality should be adopted. Not to approach from the position of the bigger or the stronger, something that has characterized the BSP in the last 25 years.
According to Pargov, the accumulated mistakes and problems should be cleared up and thus all the leftists together make a new beginning, which can happen at the upcoming celebration of Buzludzha.
„BSP must solve its problems and this is of primary importance in order to move forward together” he pointed out and added that the words “together“ and “normal“ have become very popular not only for the BSP, but also for other parties.
Pargov pointed out that all this is part of a larger process that is happening in Bulgaria. And he recalled his prediction from 2-3 years ago that the catharsis in the political parties is inevitable against the background of the political crisis and the state's slippage.
„Everyone had focused on the BSP and its problems, because we are the most open and transparent. And now we see that other parties have even more serious and structural problems than us”, he said and noted that this is a cause for reflection and that things are starting to change.
„We have caught the train on time, we have not missed it and now is the time to start”, Kaloyan Pargov concluded.
