The fire near Hisarya and the village of Ivan Vazovo, Kaloyanovo municipality, has been contained. A partial state of emergency was declared in the area. The fire destroyed nearly 20,000 acres of mostly coniferous forest. Extinguishing is made difficult by the hard-to-reach places in Sredna Gora.
On Sunday, nearly 200 people, volunteers, firefighters, forest officials and soldiers tried to localize the fire, but in the late afternoon new outbreaks ignited and due to the wind, the fire moved in the direction of the village of Ivan Vazovo. On Monday, it is expected that 11 fire engines will be involved in the fight against the fire.
