Atanas Chobanov: A mafia war is being waged in DPS

I assume that the pancake can be turned

"Political club that is used by Delyan Peevski to deal with his opponent Ahmed Dogan – mafia war".

This is how investigative journalist from Bird.bg Atanas Chobanov defined yesterday's action by the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Prosecutor's Office with the assistance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in properties and addresses related to businessman Rumen Gaitanski-Valka and the former head of the Bulgarian Development Bank Stoyan Mavrodiev.

According to him, if there had not been a rift in the DPS, this loan would not have interested our human rights authorities:

"The case for this loan, which is on the alert of the BBR, was closed last year. It was suddenly resumed after it became clear that there was a conflict in the DPS. Obviously, this points to the positioning of the political clubs, the state clubs in this mafia war that is being fought in the DPS".

There are also other loans that are very interesting and which, when traced, are connected to Peevski and Yordan Tsonev, Chobanov added in an interview for the program "Before All".

"For example, one hotel in Halkidiki was bought with a loan from BBR – state money has gone to buy a huge hotel complex. The BBR loan is unsecured. What happens to these credits? They should also be investigated by the prosecutor's office and the Anti-Corruption Commission, but this is not done. Apparently they have taken sides".

The investigative journalist also recalled other cases with loans, for example one for a collection company, as well as "houses that were rumored to have been bought by Mavrodiev to house a lady from Barcelona". The prosecutor's office has many things to investigate, he summarized.

Atanas Chobanov drew a parallel between the current situation and what happened with the loans from KTB years ago, which were mainly to Peevski:

"After Peevski dealt with his former partner, informally, Tsvetan Vassilev and managed to hide his participation in taking loans from KTB through the prosecutor's office, through Geshev, and now also with these loans from BBR, he will disappear. if he continues to control the prosecutor's office and the Anti-Corruption Commission. He confronts the others who took it - with his knowledge and support, of course - and disappears from the case. This scenario repeats itself. Will it succeed… His positions are no longer so strong. But for now, apparently, the prosecutor's office and the Anti-Corruption Commission are completely on his side".

According to his words, old investigations, which have been discontinued, are being selectively and purposefully activated for these credits, in which Peevski is soaked from everywhere, as well as Yordan Tsonev. Only what leads in some way to Dogan is being investigated, the journalist noted.

We will also see legal debates about who owns the DPS in the Administrative Court, Chobanov expects and added: "We will see how far Peevski's influence is preserved there as well". He does not rule out other "more severe measures".

"I admit that the tide may turn, but for now this is not the trend - rather the opposite - the prosecutor's office is loyal to Peevski," said the investigative journalist in conclusion.
