Two boys prevented a forest fire in the Smolyan district “Raikovo”, local residents reported. The children got involved in extinguishing the fire before it engulfed a neighboring forest and agricultural buildings in the neighborhood, reports the correspondent of BTA in Smolyan, Hristina Georgieva.
The boys witnessed a raging fire on “Stankovica” in the neighborhood. The flames were caused by a short circuit after a bird became entangled in the wires of an electric pole.
11-year-old Tony and 14-year-old Hristo responded immediately, called the emergency phone and by the time the fire department arrived, they themselves had joined the fight against the fire. Together with a man from the neighborhood, the boys started to extinguish the fire so that it would not reach the pine forest near the houses.
Arriving firefighters completely extinguished the flames and praised the brave boys for the responsible act. Tony and Hristo are from families from the "Raikovo" district, but they live with their parents in England and Germany.
