A hurricane hits the Northern Black Sea coast at the weekend.
Meteo Bulgaria warns about this.
A powerful cyclone, already formed in the eastern half of the Black Sea, is expected to move to the northwest and west. This is a retrograde motion, not as is usual for our latitudes in the southeast and east. Thus, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, its center will be near the waters of Romania and Bulgaria, and then the "eye" will also reach Northwestern Turkey.
What can we expect in the realization of this hypothetical scenario?
#ICON model best illustrates the vortex and has been for several days. We have selected maps based on it in order to illustrate the serious situation that can arise in Eastern Bulgaria and especially along the coast with the proviso that the exact trajectory will not be clear to us until the end. In any case, it is in the far east that the weather will be the most dynamic during this period. In the last two maps, we have shown what totals the model expected in one of its updates on Sunday and its most recent update from today at noon.
Precisely the uncertainty of how the low-pressure area will pass is the reason why there is no 100% certainty about the distribution of precipitation, and also about the wind gusts, which in the worst scenarios may be of the order of 120-130 km/h. causing serious damage, and in combination with intense rainfall to cause floods, similar to the disastrous floods from the end of last summer in Tsarevo.
Therefore, we will hope that if there are colossal rains, at least they will be local and not over a large area.
It would even be best if they got away and it fell mainly into the sea. It remains to be seen exactly what will happen. We are following...
All those who are on vacation now or will be heading to Dobrichko, Varna and Burgas in these days should keep this in mind - the weather will get worse!
