On November 26 this year, in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a key debate was held on the long-awaited topic of the full membership of Bulgaria and Romania in the Schengen area. During this extremely important discussion, the MEP from BSP - OL, Tsvetelina Penkova, came to the fore as a categorical defender of equality and justice. With strong arguments and firm determination, Penkova made a call to overcome years of injustice and guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens of the European Union.

„The full accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area is not only important for our region, it is essential for the whole of Europe! We have been proving our readiness for more than a decade. We have fulfilled all the criteria, we have modernized our borders and we have shown that we are a reliable partner,”, Penkova stated categorically.

Her words reflected the dissatisfaction of millions of citizens who for years feel unfairly excluded, although Bulgaria and Romania have long since fulfilled the necessary requirements. With confidence and determination, Penkova emphasized that leaving the two countries out of Schengen is a violation of basic principles of the EU.

„Discrimination against Bulgarian and Romanian citizens must stop! Schengen is not a privilege – it is a right for those who are ready. Keeping Bulgaria outside Schengen weakens the basic principles of our Union. It's time for justice, for unity – it's time to remove the barriers!“, said the MEP.

During the discussion, Penkova also discussed one of the most sensitive topics for the EU – migration. The MEP categorically rejected the claims that Bulgaria is part of the problem, and emphasized the country's active role in the efforts to solve this pan-European issue.

„Migration is a pan-European problem that requires unified solutions. But I want to emphasize – Bulgaria is not part of the problem, but part of the solution!“, stated Penkova in a clear and confident tone. Tsvetelina Penkova emphasized the contribution of our country to the protection of the external borders of the EU – a key element of security and stability in the region that cannot be ignored.

With a message full of determination, Tsvetelina Penkova ended her speech with a direct appeal to the European Council for immediate action. Her words were not just an expression of accumulated dissatisfaction among Bulgarian citizens, but a clear call for concrete results.

„It is time for the European Union to prove that it really stands up for the principles on which it was built. It is time not only for words, but also for actions. Bulgaria deserves to be a full member of Schengen!”, concluded Penkova
