The price should not is the corpse of democracy. This is what the MP from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" told the BNR. Yavor Bozhankov.
"Going to the polls is always on the table as an option. The question is how we go about these elections and what perspective they will give us. When new elections guarantee us a deepening of the crisis, we should not pronounce this phrase lightly. We have to do our best to achieve concrete results, that's our job and that's why we're there. But the price should not be the corpse of democracy. One cannot elect a straw man, one cannot enter into an alliance with anti-democratic forces. This cannot be the price we will pay," Bozhankov pointed out.
We are facing a situation which is the least bad, he thinks.
"I did not create tension in the plenary hall myself, but simply added to the biography of Silvi Kirilov. Kirilov has never expressed a public position regarding GERB, DPS or the judicial system. He has no public position at all. I listed several companies in which he was a partner. It starts from the times of "Multigroup", when he was a partner with the acting prime minister at the time (Lyuben Berov), who became known as the straw man. Then he goes through a very strange partnership in a company with a man who became famous in the scandal "Barcelonagate" as the fictitious father of the child. I am raising these questions today to complete his biography, and Sylvi Kirilov's explanation saddened me - he said that he almost got into these societies. He also became a member of the leadership of Hristo Kovacki's party, and he claims that he doesn't even know how this happened," Bozhankov also said.
Yavor Bozhankov emphasized that he voted against Silvi Kirilov's candidacy because he cannot support a person with an unclear biography and who will be elected with the votes of the "Revival" party.
According to him, the PP-DB made a tactical mistake by rushing to make proposals with the declaration of a sanitary cordon for Delyan Peevski, when the first mandate to form a government has not yet been handed over.
"Borisov is the winner of the elections and he is responsible for gathering a majority with the relevant priorities and legislative program. And when he cannot do it, declare defeat, let us state this and only then move on to the second mandate and we present our conditions as a second political party. Our aspirations to do the right thing in the name of the state interests and the Bulgarian society provoked us not to wait for Borisov and to act proactively. And there is logic in this too, from the point of view of the state, it is correct", added Bozhankov.
