Today we will allocate 2 million leva, which we promised to those affected by the lack of electricity. Over 20,000 households will be beneficiaries of this aid. We are doing it to show that there is a state. This was stated by the acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the beginning of the last meeting of the Council of Ministers for 2024.
Glavchev also specified that the compensation and penalties that the EDPs must pay are two separate things.
What we are giving has no relation to the penalties that must be paid by the energy distribution companies. Moreover, Minister Malinov called on the EWRC to conduct an inspection of the investment programs and what expenses the EDPs have incurred. Because such a situation is absolutely unacceptable – households cannot be left without electricity during the holidays, added Dimitar Glavchev.
According to him, the state cannot remain indifferent at such a moment, despite the fact that a caretaker government is currently in power.
„The executive authorities are involved everywhere and in full volume – "As it was with the fires, now the situation is the same," the Prime Minister said.
From his words it became clear that he had spoken with the mayors of Gabrovo, Teteven, Troyan, Samokov and Pancharevo and once again clarified that wherever they could, they had helped.
Glavchev expressed hope that the parliament would work in essence as soon as possible, pointing out that the caretaker cabinet had submitted 32 bills to the National Assembly registry, with another 50 from the members of parliament separately, and the parliament had not yet adopted a single bill for consideration.
„We remain hopeful that the parliament will work when a regular government is formed,“ Glavchev said.
The caretaker Prime Minister announced that today the Council of Ministers would also submit a special bill for collecting revenues and spending expenses until the adoption of the state budget for next year.
Financial stability and sustainability of public finances are our priority and extremely important, and it is in this regard that we are submitting the bill. In this way, normal functioning and normal expenditure will be ensured when expenditure exceeds revenue and there is prioritization, Glavchev explained.
In conclusion, Dimitar Glavchev informed that he would meet with the media on January 1st, because he had “something to say“ about that time.
