As of 09:00 this morning, 2,549 subscribers in the country were without electricity. This is according to data from the Ministry of Energy, provided by the electricity distribution companies. The information was presented at a briefing at the Council of Ministers by Minister Vladimir Malinov.
All three ERPs have undertaken to ensure that all households have electricity by this evening, the minister also announced.
Malinov said that the Council of Ministers has approved additional compensation for households that have been without electricity for more than 24 hours. Up to 2.2 million leva will be allocated.
According to information from the Ministry of Energy, over 20,000 households will be able to benefit from this mechanism.
This will be in addition to what the EDPs owe as a penalty. This is only for household consumers. But we do not forget non-household consumers, who also suffered significant damage, Malinov said.
First, the necessary information will be collected in the Interdepartmental Commission. Minister Malinov called on all small and medium-sized businesses, through the mayors, to submit their claims, and in January the government will decide what assistance it can offer.
The Ministry of Energy will propose increasing the sanctions provided for in the Energy Law for failure to perform licensed activities and for violations found in the technical preparation and readiness of the electricity distribution networks.
Minister Malinov stated that it is also necessary to introduce fixed investment costs for electricity distribution companies regarding the maintenance of the electricity transmission network.
