The prosecutor's office has charged the co-chair of "We continue the change" Kiril Petkov. He was released with a "subpoena" measure, BNR reported.
According to the prosecutor's office, Petkov violated his official duties by ordering police officers to arrest Borisov, Goranov and Arnaudova. However, this was not a function of the Ministry of Interior, and the investigation should have been led by the investigation, so he violated these duties. Today it became clear that the prosecutor's office has dozens of testimonies, documents, and video recordings with which it proves these allegations.
Prosecutor Angel Kanev, who was personally attacked by Kiril Petkov and by those present supporting him from outside, explained that the case was not delayed, that he was chosen at random, and that the reason why the indictment is now being filed is the transfer of the case through different judicial stations, as well as a change in the law.
Kiril Petkov himself refused to comment on the substance of his accusation, but commented that the prosecutor's office must be reformed because it is dependent on Delyan Peevski and as a sign that this must happen, he pointed to the actions being taken by the coalition, of which the PP for judicial reforms is a part. system.
Outside, supporters and Kiril Petkov himself spoke about the election of Borislav Sarafov, who, in their opinion, should be stopped, and whom Petkov unequivocally linked to his accusation.
The co-chairman of the PP also saw bias in the fact that the investigation was led by prosecutor Angel Kanev.
"The only thing that has happened throughout my entire administration is that people were free under me. All the people who worked under this cabinet were free, they were free not to be afraid to do what they think is right to do and which will not have any consequences if they abide by the law. This is the only thing and what we all hold here, the coalition partners are with us, the people from all over Bulgaria, is to show that this dirty machine is nothing, if people simply say - enough is enough, we will not comply with it. I am ready to stand before any court. I hope that the judges will be impartial, because we have no trust in the prosecutor's office and I am ready to continue this case as long as necessary to prove that I am innocent," he said about the accusation regarding the arrest before entering the building of the former Specialized Court.
Petkov also told the supervising prosecutor that he was innocent. He promised to monitor how the investigation is developing for the sake of ordinary people who do not have the publicity that he has. The co-chairs of the State Security Service came to his support.
Bozhidar Bozanov refused to comment on whether it was possible that Kiril Petkov had committed a crime, and Atanas Atanasov was categorical that he had not. The two were adamant that they had no invitation to return to the negotiating table, and the leader of the Democratic Party Atanas Atanasov was clear under what conditions the Democratic Party would participate again in negotiations for a government with the GERB mandate.
"One, that all our demands for the agreement be accepted, and, secondly, that we want a politically neutral candidate for prime minister. These are our conditions. There is a mandate holder who should propose to the other political forces a candidate for prime minister who is acceptable. It is not our job. Of course, it would be reasonable to propose a politically neutral authority," said Atanasov.
